The Ascension of the Lord

Introduction(by the Presider)On this Ascension Sunday, trusting in Christ who remains with us always, we bring our prayers before God our Father.

  1. For the Church: that Christ’s promise to remain with his people may strengthen and guide the Church in her mission throughout the world. Lord, hear us.
  2. For the Diocese of Cork and Ross:that as we approach the two-week mission in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Eucharistic Procession we may be renewed in faith, hope and love. Lord, hear us.
  3. For the baptised: that we may follow Christ as missionary disciples and share his love with others. Lord, hear us.
  4. For those preparing for exams:that the Holy Spirit may guide them, calm their anxieties, and strengthen them in all their efforts. Lord, hear us.
  5. For those who are lonely: that they may know the presence of Christ and find friendship, kindness, and support in our community. Lord, hear us.
  6. For peace in our hearts, our homes, and our world:that God’s love may overcome hatred and fear, and bring lasting peace. Lord, hear us.

The Presider prays for the dead: For those who have died (especially N & N): that they may be welcomed into the eternal joy of God’s kingdom. Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider): Heavenly Father, you listen to your people in every age. Hear the prayers we offer with faith and trust through Christ our Lord.
